SUP Practice
Like running, stand up paddle is an activity where there are big variations in body temperature. Thus, it is important to stay hydrated and to not hesitate to strip down during exercise. At the end of the exercise, remember to wrap up warm. Except in high heat, it is best to wear a neoprene garment to keep warm before, during and after your paddle outing. To preserve your energy and put less strain on your muscles during exercise, bend your knees a bit and adopt a slightly crouched position by leaning forwards to get a better range of paddle motion.
Bike riding
When riding a bike it is highly recommended to wear a helmet, non-slip shoes and gloves. It is also recommended to wear light-colored clothes. Also you should avoid wearing long scarves and sling bags. And neither should you be listening to a portable audio player nor using your mobile phone while riding. When dark, consider wearing a reflective vest.
Always take a means of hydration with you for excursions when biking or paddling alike. We also advise you to carry a bag (preferably waterproof for nautical activities) that will let you take the things that make an outing more fun (warm clothing, water, cereal bars...). While paddling, the camel bag is a solution that will allow you to hydrate without stopping and makes it really easy to drink whenever you want.
Either on land or at sea, beware of the wind because it tends to take your mind off the heat, even when the sun is intense. We advise you not to go on the water without sunscreen or a cap and to better protect sensitive skin areas. Whether it is cloudy or blue skies, the glare of the sun on the sea increases the intensity of the light by 25%.
Before heading out, always start by doing a weather check and choose your route based on the conditions to better manage your energy. Do not hesitate to discuss this point with your renter.
When going out on the water, do not forget to check the tide timetables with your renter, in order to avoid getting trapped by the differences of the tidal range (difference in height between high tide and low tide). In places which are exposed to currents, get as much information as you can from your spot; good preparation for you outing can save you a lot of time and energy on the water.
Conserving the environment and the oceans, lakes and rivers is part of the OceanRide’s DNA.
Our goal is to enable as many people as possible to discover the pleasure of going out on the water, raise awareness and create a real sense of well-being, coupled with a notion of respect for the elements.
Take your smartphone (in a waterproof case when going out to sea) and capture the best bits of your session. Birds, fish of all kinds may cross your path... you will have unforgettable and magical moments to capture and share. Enjoy them all and share them with us using the Hashtag #OceanRidePaddle&Bike
