After a high-level sports career from 1987 to 1996 that included a gold medal in windsurfing at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, and a Master of Economics and Sports Management at the University of Paris Dauphine, Franck has specialised in sports marketing and, in 1994, founded the Alyzea event agency.
After years in Olympic and offshore sailing (ORMA 60 and MOD 70), he then became executive director of the Race for Water Odyssey in 2015, a global expedition that aimed to map the plastic pollution in our oceans. Alarmed by this unfolding environmental disaster, he decided early in 2016 to create OceanRide with Marco Simeoni, chairman of the Race for Water Foundation. OceanRide is an innovative and social concept adding Stand Up Paddle to his passion for water sports and his wish to make a lasting contribution to the cause of protecting the planet and its oceans.
An entrepreneur at heart, Marco Simeoni has built and developed many companies since founding the highly successful Swiss SME, Veltigroup, in 2008. Concerned about the environment, Simeoni created the Race For Water Foundation in 2010, with the aim of informing, sharing and acting on the preservation of water, and the oceans in particular. Following the sale of Veltigroup in 2014, he decided to devote himself entirely to his Foundation and bring his entrepreneurial spirit to the cause of the environment.
In 2015, he personally participated in the Race for Water Odyssey. On his return, after nine months at sea on board the trimaran “MOD70 Race for Water”, his message was clear: plastic waste is everywhere, it is unrealistic to think about cleaning up the oceans. We have to act quickly on land and process plastic waste before it reaches the water. The new mission of the Foundation was born: to identify, promote and implement plastic waste recovery solutions.
At the start of 2016, he became a co-founder and investor in OceanRide SAS, whose vision and programmes complement the activities of the Race For Water Foundation.
After studying management and business administration, Corentine decided to focus on the organisation of sporting events in general and sailing in particular, so she would never be too far from the sea. She has worked with the class MOD70 and Race for Water Foundation for the last five years and, in 2015, helped organise the Race for Water Odyssey. She appreciates the problem of ocean pollution and knows there is a need for action at all levels to ensure that things change. Following her interests, she joined OceanRide when it was founded. And now she has no excuse for not finally getting on an SUP board – the ideal sport for getting fit after having babies
